About

Background

I started in radio in 1995, hosting The Groove on CJSW on Sunday afternoons. That led to announcing on Power 107 and Vibe 98.5, where I was among the first to play hip hop and R&B on commercial radio in Calgary. From 2008 to 2010 I was an entertainment reporter for Shaw TV.

Alongside radio, I've emceed and DJed festivals, concerts, fight nights and old school parties, and hosted or opened shows for Usher, Nas, The Roots, Russell Peters and Kes the Band. Through CalgarySoca, my events brand, I've booked soca artists for Calgary audiences. I was president of Carifest, Calgary's Caribbean festival, from 2008 to 2011, and I now coordinate sponsorships and partnerships for Carifest, the Lilac Festival and Taste of Calgary.

Today I co-host the Carnival Mix on CJSW, a weekly hour of soca and calypso with artist interviews and Caribbean news. I've also begun presenting long-form video, starting with a short film on the origins of Carnival. I plan to keep doing both: playing the music people remember and telling the stories behind it.
